> Read and write Bottari databases from your own server with an API token.

The Bottari API lets an external server read and write Bottari databases with a token.

curl -X POST https://api.bottari.ai/notion/v1/data_sources/exampleDb001/query \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $BOTTARI_TOKEN" \

## What you can do

| Task | Endpoints | Capability |
| - | - | - |
| Read databases and rows, find them by title | `/v1/search` · `/v1/databases` · `/v1/data_sources` · `/v1/pages` | Read content |
| Read page content as blocks or Markdown | `/v1/blocks` · `/v1/pages/{id}/markdown` | Read content |
| Read users | `/v1/users` | User information |
| Read comments | `/v1/comments` | Read comments |
| Create rows | `POST /v1/pages` | Insert content |
| Update rows, move them to the trash, restore, archive, lock | `PATCH /v1/pages/{id}` | Update content |
| Receive change notifications | [Webhooks](https://developers.bottari.ai/webhooks/subscribe.md) | Read content, plus Read comments for comment events |

## What's not available

These features aren't part of the API. See [Unavailable endpoints](https://developers.bottari.ai/api-reference/overview.md#unavailable-endpoints) for the full list.

* Writing page content. You can only read blocks.
* Writing comments. You can only read them.
* File uploads. A files property only accepts new external URLs.
* Creating databases or changing their schema. The one exception: writing a new name to a `select` or `multi_select` property creates that option.
* Creating subpages under a row. You can read a subpage and update its title, trash state, archive state, lock, icon, and cover.

## Key terms

| Term | Meaning |
| - | - |
| Integration | An account for an external server. It has a token and capabilities. You create it in team settings. |
| Connection | Access granted to an integration, one database at a time. A database that isn't connected looks like it doesn't exist. |
| Row | An item in a database. Its API object is `page`. |
| Data source | Every Bottari database has exactly one. The database ID and the data source ID are the same value. |
| Subpage | A document under a row. Its API object is `page` with a `page_id` parent, and its only property is the title. |
